What happened
RingCentral, Inc. (NYSE: RNG) reported third-quarter subscription revenue of $652.944 million, up 6.0%, while GAAP operating margin improved to 8.0%.
Paid native AI products now reach customers representing almost 15% of annual recurring revenue, roughly double the year-earlier penetration. The direct answer is still mixed. AI adoption and cash generation improved, but faster top-line growth is not visible in the fourth-quarter guide.

Why it matters
RingCentral, Inc. (NYSE: RNG) guided fourth-quarter revenue to $673 million through $680 million. The $676.5 million midpoint is only 0.0676% above third-quarter revenue of $676.043 million. That is effectively flat sequential growth despite rising AI penetration.
The economics improved faster than revenue. GAAP operating margin increased from 4.8% to 8.0%, and non-GAAP operating margin rose from 22.8% to 24.7%. Operating cash flow reached $179.889 million, while free cash flow was $156.764 million.
At the midpoint, full-year revenue guidance is $2.6535 billion and free cash flow guidance is $625 million. That implies a 23.6% free cash flow margin, close to the 23.2% delivered in Q3.
Balance-sheet pressure also eased. RingCentral, Inc. (NYSE: RNG) reduced gross debt to about $1 billion and ended the quarter with $110.118 million of cash. Full-year free cash flow guidance rose to $620 million through $630 million.
The strongest counterargument is that profitable growth may matter more than a single sequential guide. Subscription revenue still grew 6%, paid AI penetration doubled, and margins expanded. However, the headline GAAP EPS of $6.50 is distorted by a valuation-allowance release. Excluding that item, GAAP EPS was $0.28 rather than $6.50.

What's next
The next test is whether paid AI ARR penetration produces faster subscription growth in 2027. Investors should watch fourth-quarter subscription revenue, net retention, AI attach rates, GAAP operating margin, cash flow, and debt reduction.
The company did not disclose paid AI ARR dollars, and penetration does not establish incremental revenue or retention by itself. Guidance midpoints define a hurdle. They do not predict the reported result.
