NeuroSense (NASDAQ: NRSN) files TBI patent application to expand PrimeC beyond ALS

What happened

NeuroSense Therapeutics Ltd. (NASDAQ: NRSN) said on October 19, 2026, that it filed a U.S. patent application for PrimeC in traumatic brain injury. The application covers methods of treating traumatic brain injury and related central nervous system injuries with ciprofloxacin and celecoxib, the active ingredients of PrimeC. It covers concussion, mild TBI, moderate and severe TBI, blast-related injury and chronic traumatic encephalopathy. If granted, the patent is expected to protect the approach through 2047, subject to any extensions.

NeuroSense said the filing supports PrimeC's longer-term strategy beyond ALS and may support future research partnerships. It also said it is evaluating future TBI-focused research and development through strategic collaborations, research grants and other non-dilutive funding opportunities. The company said ALS remains its main development priority.

Why it matters

OptimistFi's view is that NeuroSense's value depends on moving a pipeline program forward or landing a partnership or financing. On that measure, this filing is a mixed step. It strengthens the company's intellectual property position and creates a base for future research, partnerships and non-dilutive funding opportunities, but it does not bring clinical proof or new financing.

The release says TBI affects millions of people worldwide. It also says more than 5,000 people are diagnosed with ALS in the U.S. alone each year and that the annual disease burden is $1 billion. It adds that there are no approved disease-modifying therapies specifically targeting the secondary neurological injury associated with TBI.

That matters because the investment case still depends on a clinical milestone or financing step, not on the filing alone. The company has reported only an application, not an issued patent, and PrimeC still has to show safety and efficacy in TBI or related conditions.

What's next

The next quarterly report is the next scheduled test. Any update on TBI-focused research, partnerships or non-dilutive funding would help show follow-through beyond the application.

A patent grant or a concrete TBI collaboration would add more support. Without that, the story stays mixed.
