Keurig Dr Pepper names CEO for planned coffee separation

What happened

Keurig Dr Pepper Inc. (NASDAQ: KDP) said on October 1, 2026, that its board named Russ Torres CEO of future Global Coffee Co. He will join KDP on November 3, 2026. Before the separation, he will serve as CEO of the Coffee Operating Unit and report to Tim Cofer. The press release says Torres is now president and chief operating officer of Kimberly-Clark Corporation.

He will also lead the integration of KDP's and JDE Peet's coffee operations before the planned split. Torres will join the future Global Coffee Co. board when the planned separation, targeted for early 2027, takes effect. Tim Cofer will become CEO of Beverage Co. after separation, so both businesses will have named leaders.

Why it matters

OptimistFi's case is that Keurig Dr Pepper can keep turning everyday consumption occasions into profitable repeat purchases without needing excessive promotion or balance-sheet support. This filing is mixed for that view. It names the first chief executive for the future coffee company and gives investors a size frame for the standalone business before the split.

That frame is approximately $16 billion in annual revenue, more than 25,000 people, and over 100 markets upon separation. The filing also says Tim Cofer will lead Beverage Co. after separation. That makes the leadership map clearer for both businesses. The new structure is still a planned separation targeted for early 2027.

What's next

Torres is set to join KDP on November 3, 2026. Before separation, he will run the Coffee Operating Unit. He will also work on the integration of KDP's and JDE Peet's coffee operations while the company moves toward the split.

The separation remains targeted for early 2027, and Torres is slated to join the future Global Coffee Co. board when it takes effect. A clean start on November 3 and steady progress toward that target would support the case. Any slip would weaken it.
